Let’s Connect! Client 4.5, published by the Dutch non-profit Let’s Connect!, is a lightweight VPN utility designed to let students, researchers, and staff reach their institute’s internal network—or simply secure their entire Internet session—through an encrypted tunnel. Because the program is built on the open-source eduVPN platform, it inherits military-grade cryptography and a zero-log policy, making it equally suitable for accessing campus file servers, library databases, or for protecting a laptop on public Wi-Fi. Installation on Windows takes under a minute; the wizard automatically detects the user’s home institution from a global directory of participating universities, research consortia, and public-sector bodies, then downloads the corresponding profile and certificates. Once launched, the client presents only two buttons: “Connect to Institute” (split-tunnel) and “Connect to Internet” (full-tunnel), eliminating the need to fiddle with gateway addresses or subnet masks. Version 4.5 introduces WireGuard as the default protocol, reducing handshake time and battery drain on mobile PCs, while still falling back to OpenVPN when UDP traffic is restricted. The release also adds DNS-based split-horizon logic, so on-campus services resolve to private RFC1918 addresses while external sites remain direct, improving speed for remote workers who need both worlds. Administrators can pre-stage the MSI through Group Policy or Windows Package Manager (winget), pushing scoped profiles that expire automatically when the user leaves the institution. Although only one edition of the client is maintained, the built-in updater silently rolls out point releases every six weeks, ensuring cipher suites and server lists stay current. Let’s Connect! Client 4.5 is available for free on get.nero.com, where downloads are delivered through trusted Windows package sources such as winget, always providing the latest build and supporting batch installation alongside other applications.
